Alyssa's clients describe her as laid back, easy to talk to, understanding, and empathetic.
Her therapy style is trauma-informed, solution focused, collaborative, and supportive.
Alyssa earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining The Willow Center, she provided individual counseling services to both BGSU students and adult community members for a variety of mental health challenges including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and general life stressors. She works to identify and build on client’s strengths, to assist clients in developing the skills necessary to navigate life’s challenges, and to address any areas of need beyond the therapy room which impact clients’ abilities to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
Alyssa utilizes an eclectic, trauma-informed approach to therapeutic intervention, including strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and others. She also blends person-centered and person-in-environment techniques to tailor her approach to best meet the needs of individual clients. Alyssa works collaboratively with clients, meeting them where they are on their therapeutic journey, and working together with them toward their goals.
