Dr. Daniel Rapport has been an attending psychiatrist since 1989. He attended the University of Michigan and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree having designed an independent major called Physiological Psychiatry, now referred to as Neurocognitive Science. From Michigan he attended and graduated from Wright State University College of Medicine in 1985. Immediately following graduation, he trained at the Cleveland Clinic in internal medicine. After completing one year of medicine, he chose to change fields to psychiatry – his true passion. While at the Cleveland Clinic he was mentored by Dr. Joseph Calabrese who is a renowned researcher in bipolar disorder. Upon graduation from the Cleveland Clinic Dr. Daniel Rapport gained practice experience at an HMO in the Cleveland area called University Mednet. At Mednet he practiced in a group and did both inpatient and outpatient adult psychiatry as well as Consultation/Liaison psychiatry. In 1991, he joined Dr. Calabrese at the Mood Disorders Program at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals of Cleveland. He was eventually promoted to become the Clinical Director of the Mood Disorders Program and oversaw Outpatient and Inpatient adult care, as well as an Intensive Outpatient Program. Daniel coordinated a team of clinicians serving treatment refractory mood disorders. He also was a co-investigator in several research activities. In 2004, he moved to the Medical College of Ohio and became the Director of the Consultation/Liaison Serves for 14 years. He has continued to teach, mentor, and practice adult outpatient psychiatry specializing in treatment refractory mood disorders.
