Nicole obtained her Bachelors degrees in psychology and sociology from Albion College, where she was an NCAA-qualifying student athlete. She then went on to pursue her Masters in Social Work from the University of Toledo. During that time, she worked with the youth population of Toledo as a therapist intern at Harbor Behavioral Health. Prior to joining The Willow Center, she provided behavioral healthcare, individual therapy, and crisis interventions for the incarcerated population housed at Toledo Correctional Institute, focusing on the LGBTQ+ population and advocating for the transgender community. Her philosophy to therapy is client-centered, meeting the client where they are at and utilizing cognitive restricting and motivational interviewing techniques to foster growth. She believes that humor is a powerful tool and has the power to strengthen connections. She has experience utilizing the techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and narrative therapy to aid clients in leading healthier, happier lives. Social reform that Nicole supports and advocates for includes LGQBT+ rights, bodily autonomy, criminal justice reform, and racism/discrimination.
