💜Day 5 of relationship advice from our relationship specialists!💜

Today we are hearing from Chantele Steffens, M. Ed., EDL, and relationship specialist trained in Gottman level 1! She says,

“Contempt can turn a seemingly benign conversation into destructive chaos in a relationship. To avoid this, couples can adopt practical strategies. John Gottman has long referred to contempt as “sulfuric acid for love.” It is the most destructive which is usually obvious to the person on the receiving end of contempt. In order to avoid this, engage in constructive conversations when facing challenges. Integrating renowned methods like the Gottman approach creates a foundation for positive change. Remember, communication is a journey, not a destination. Embrace the process, learn, and continually strive for healthier interactions."

💖Day 2 of relationship advice with our relationship specialists💖

Today we are hearing from Michelle Ruelke, AASDA and Relationship Specialist trained in Gottman level 1 and 2! She says,

“Practice the pause. Before you speak or act, ask yourself if what you’re about to do or say is going to help or hurt your relationship. It takes 5 positive interactions to make up for one negative interaction. Therefore, you want to express your feelings and wants/needs without criticizing your partner and creating a negative interaction.“
